Full-scale wind tunnel testing
The DuraTrack™ tracking system has undergone thorough testing in a full-scale wind tunnel to enable a better understanding of wind load interactions on our tracking systems.
Data collected from the instrumented tracking system in the wind tunnel test provided crucial information about the wind’s interaction with the tracker structure that could not be practically or reliably calculated using standard engineering methods. This information added to our knowledge and allowed us to further engineer DuraTrack systems for optimal material usage, providing both higher strength, and cost savings.
CONFIDENCE IN THE DURATRACK SYSTEM
DuraTrack’s dry slide bearings have been laboratory tested to over 100 years of field use. To insure module and structural integrity, Array’s proprietary module mounting clamps have also been laboratory tested. Wind tunnel and other laboratory and field tests help us meet building code requirements, and give us the confidence to provide a leading industry warranty
ADAPTS TO WEATHER CONDITIONS
Array has designed DuraTrack’s robust drive system to adapt to a system stall condition as might be experienced from a large snow storm. The drive system will slip to avoid module damage or motor stall, and periodically try to move until the snow melts.
Dry slide bearings are made of high strength UV stabilized, low friction polymer and require no lube. They have been sand impact-tested to 30 years.
