1 MW Activated for Madera Community Hospital

DuraTrack HZ™ tracking system to reduce annual operating costs

Albuquerque, NM – 10/3/11 – One of the largest ground-mounted tracking systems for a health care provider went online today at Madera Community Hospital in California, generating over 1 MW of electricity to help lower operating costs while reducing the facility’s carbon footprint.

Array Technologies’ DuraTrack HZ™ system was chosen for the project, as it provides up to a 25% net energy gain over fixed-rack installations, as well as offering the maximum return on investment for any utility-scale project. Designed with a minimization of materials and equipped with articulating drivelines, the DuraTrack HZ™ system delivers robust performance on any terrain. On the southwest corner of the hospital grounds, the site is located on a six-acre plot of formerly unused land.

Constructed, owned and financed by Borrego Solar, the site required no upfront capital investment on the hospital’s part, which will enjoy a low fixed energy rate to help offset rising utility costs over the lifetime of the project.
