Array Technologies Activates 1 MWs for WalMart
Apple Valley, CA. site to provide power for distribution center
Albuquerque, NM – 1/18/10 – A 1 MW DuraTrack HZ™ system is now online at WalMart’s Apple Valley distribution center in California, generating clean solar energy while locking in long-term savings against rising utility rates for the project’s lifetime. Constructed by EPC SunEdison, the project furthers WalMart’s commitment to meeting its renewable energy goals.
The company selected Array Technologies’ DuraTrack HZ™ tracking system for its ability to generate up to 25% more energy than fixed-rack applications, as well as its proven reliability and tough performance that comes from Array’s continual innovation in tracker engineering. Designed with a minimization of materials and equipped with articulating drivelines, the DuraTrack HZ™ system is easy to install on any type of terrain—all while maximizing the return on investment.
Part of a 2007 solar pilot program that included PV installations at WalMart facilities across California and Hawaii, the system is a step towards the company’s ultimate goal of generating 100 percent of its energy needs from renewables.
