Array installs its OmniTrack Solar Tracker in the EMEA Region

  • The project integrates Array SmarTrack™, a production optimization software that maximizes performance.
  • The predicted energy generation will supply 3,300 homes and avoid carbon emissions equivalent to 3,100 tons per year.

PAMPLONA, SPAIN, August 5, 2024 — Array Technologies (NASDAQ: ARRY) (“Array,” “the company”), a global provider of solar tracking solutions for large-scale projects, has supplied and installed OmniTrack solar trackers for a photovoltaic energy project in Valladolid, Spain. OmniTrack stands out for following the contours of the land, minimizing or eliminating the need for earthworks. Additionally, it includes all key features of DuraTrack®, such as passive wind mitigation and highly reliable components.

This is the first time that Array OmniTrack is being installed in the EMEA region (an acronym for Europe, Middle East, and Africa). The project, named Erica, will become operational in October 2024 and is the result of collaboration between Array, Ríos Renovables, and Aspiravi. Spanish company Ríos Renovables specializes in managing and developing photovoltaic projects with a special focus on energy efficiency. On the other hand, Aspiravi, a pioneering renewable energy company in Belgium, offers a wide range of services, from project development and financing to construction and maintenance.

OmniTrack technology has enabled the project to be completed without the need for earthworks, thanks to its adaptability to complex terrain topographies. Additionally, Array has shipped many of its pre-assembled components directly from the factory. These two elements expedite the field installation process and minimize environmental impact. This translates into time savings for the customer and an improvement in the levelized cost of energy.

The project incorporates SmarTrack, a software already with 2 GW in operation, designed to optimize production based on the intrinsic characteristics of the project, such as terrain or weather conditions.

Moreover, Array’s solar tracker includes a patented passive wind mitigation system that does not require anemometers. This system maximizes the plant’s generation by minimizing the flagging times, a crucial aspect for photovoltaic projects located in high-wind areas like the Iberian Peninsula and other parts of EMEA.

In addition to supplying solar trackers for Erica, Array is responsible for their installation, ensuring the execution deadlines and the quality of the project. Thus, the entire process, from manufacturing to commissioning of the solar plant, is supervised by Array, including a thorough terrain study and the optimized implementation of its SmarTrack software.

Xabier Urcelay, General Manager of Array for EMEA, emphasizes that “this project represents our ongoing commitment to innovation. By integrating our latest solar tracker technology, we guarantee the highest quality and profitability for our customers.”
