The Threat Hail Poses to Solar Investments
Large areas in the Central U.S. and other regions face risk of hail damage to PV installations.
As severe hailstorms become more frequent, safeguarding your solar installations is increasingly critical. Building upon the proven reliability of ARRAY DuraTrack® and the automated response capabilities of ARRAY SmarTrack® Hail Alert Response, Hail XP offers one of the industry’s steepest hail protection angles.

Failure-free wind design
Nobody can control the weather, but Hail XP features our patented passive wind mitigation to manage wind events to power through harsh weather events. Hail XP is designed for wind loads and hail at maximum angle in either direction, meaning there is no need to choose between hail stow and wind stow – Hail XP handles both simultaneously.
The SmarTrack Advantage
Hail XP works seamlessly with ARRAY SmarTrack® Hail Alert Response. Incorporating third-party weather data services, trackers are automated and move modules to a defensive position at least 30 minutes prior to a high probability hail event.
Designed to Meet the Solar Industry’s Critical Needs
Product Benefits
ARRAY was founded on a philosophy of engineered simplicity, minimizing potential failure points with fewer components. Compared to competitors, DuraTrack Hail XP has fewer components, no batteries, and the reliability of wired AC motors, consistently delivering higher reliability and superior uptime. This enables the trackers to stow when needed, protecting your assets whenever a storm approaches.
Higher density means more power, which can lead to more profit. Even with heavier 3.2mm tempered glass on PV modules, DuraTrack and OmniTrack Hail XP offers the unique ability to foster maximum power density of each site, boasting up to four strings and 120 modules per row – higher density than our closest competition.
Maintenance-free motors and gears, fewer moving parts, zero batteries, and industrial-grade components means no scheduled maintenance required for our customers. While our competitors average two unscheduled maintenance events per day, we average only one per year.
Hail damage accounts for over half of the total costs incurred from solar losses¹. Stowing solar trackers at 77° can mitigate the risk of damage from extreme hail events. Hail XP can also provide the stow event data needed to meet most insurance providers’ risk management requirements, potentially leading to lower premiums or better coverage options.
